Flight Status Fail

It's a good thing I can tell time. Otherwise I might have gone to pick Jeff up Early.

There was more?

Somehow this fortune was misplaced:

Don't be hasty; prosperity will knock on your door soon.

Telling Fortunes

Little known fact about Laura: I love fortune cookies. The fortunes are fun, but I actually just love the cookies. Occasionally I'll eat bunches of them. Today was one of those days. In fact, I made a breakfast of it. And since I ate ALL the cookies, I'm going to claim rights to all the following fortunes:

Your days will be filled with sunshine and happiness.
The star of riches is shining upon you.
Take the chance while you still have the choice.
You will soon receive an offer you cannot refuse.
A big fortune will descend upon you this year.
A thrilling time is in store for you.
Look for the dream that keeps coming back. It is your destiny.
You are going to have a comfortable old age.. (That one came with two periods.)
You will have good luck in Spring.
Romance will come your way soon.
You will be unusually successful in business.
Soon life will become more interesting.

I'm not sure how I feel about that last one. Life is pretty interesting now as it is!

Murphy's Law

I have pretty decent reading skills, so foreshadowing in novels usually isn't lost on me. Apparently it's a different story in real life.

As I was washing my car this morning at the self-serve car wash and saw a bird resting in the eves above me, I said hello and thought nothing more of him. Just moments later as I was drying my car, I had to marvel at how much mess I missed when cleaning my hood. Fresh mess! Oh well--at least he hadn't had much breakfast. :)

This morning I seem to have lost all social awareness (again) and actually went out in my high school {mumbled} cheerleading warmups with my name sewn into the jacket. The funny thing is every time I wear them out {if only this wasn't a repeating event}, I'm totally shocked when strangers calls me by name. In my defense, though, I had to be out of the house by 7, and any minimal fashion sense I have probably doesn't kick in 'til evening anyway. :)

Attitude

I want to remember even on the super-challenging days, that my attitude in response to difficult circumstances is most important.

When the end comes

(to grad school), whenever that may be, I imagine these sentiments will resonate:

What I Do All Day

There are species of bacteria that, when placed in stressful conditions, make patterns as their colonies grow. (For comparison, a bacterial colony growing in comfortable laboratory conditions is a solid circle.) I write computer simulations to model the patterns made one species of bacteria. Above is a picture I made from a simulation. Now I am trying to adapt my code to model a different pattern that the same species create. I'll post a picture once I get it working.
